Airbnb meets Malaysia Blogger Community

Airbnb meets Malaysia Blogger Community

On the 1st of October 2013, I was one of the bloggers who was invited and managed to attend the ‘Airbnb meets Malaysia Blogger Community’ meet up which was held at the Upstairs Lounge of Palate Palette at Jalan Mesui, Kuala Lumpur.

I was so excited as I got to meet up a few bloggers whom I have been following their stories such as Jard dan Farah as well as meeting a few others like IdaNizam and Cindy. Yeah, they are all the big names in the blogging world. *_* … Hehehe.

Anyway, the purpose of the meet up was actually to let us know about the service provided by Airbnb. Airbnb. Have you ever heard of it? Yeah, when I went there, it was my first time too.

Basically, Airbnb is a website in which you can book for your accommodation before you go travelling. What differ airbnb and other hotels’ booking sites is that airbnb is not owned by big chain hotels. Instead, it is a normal person, who decides to be a host and rent out his room/apartment/bungalow/house to a traveller with a fee.

For example, if you are planning to go to Bangkok on a certain date, go to airbnb.com and put your destination [Bangkok] and the dates. From there, you can see the listings and choose where to stay and the price of the accommodation.

There are photos of the places, some of them had been verified by the people from airbnb who actually went to the places, and also what the places had to offer. You can contact the host directly if there is any inquiry. If satisfied, click ‘Book’ and just wait till your travel date comes. 🙂

At the moment, booking payment is by credit card only.

What’s unique about this service is that it actually try to help to boost the economy of the locals because the money will be paid directly to the hosts by airbnb. What’s more, you can also register as a host and get your place listed in the listing!

Airbnb also has apps which can be downloaded from the App Store and the Google Play.
