For Muslims, looking for Halal food can be a hassle in a foreign land, especially if the Muslim community is very small or almost non-existence. That was what happened to me during my solo journey to Vientiane, Laos a few months back. It was hard to find halal food. Yes, Muslims can opt for seafood or even Maggie mee, but for how long can your taste bud accept that. π Gladly, I was lucky. As I wandered around, I saw 3 halal food outlets in Vientiane and the best thing was that, some of them even offer mamak food! Oh, how I miss home. Here are some tips of where to find halal restaurants in Vientiane, Laos.
****
1. Nazim Restaurant / Restoran Nazim
This restaurant is situated off the main road opposite the waterfront area, on Rue Chao Anou.
Restoran ni letaknya di Jalan Chao Anou, berhadapan kawasan waterfront.

After you see this signboard, enter the junction and walk further a bit. The restaurant will be on your right.
Restoran sebelah kanan.

Apart from the typical Indian food, seeing the menu made me smile. However, the price at this restaurant is a little bit on the high side.
Selain makanan India, bila tengok menu aku tersenyum sendiri. Tapi, harga makanan kat restoran ni sebenarnya agak mahal sikit.

2. Aashifa Restaurant / Restoran Aashifa
I stumbled upon this restaurant on my way to another restaurant. Did not have the chance to try the food here, but yes, here is another option for Muslims travellers. Situated along the main road facing the riverfront. Being a corner lot restaurant, the view from here is quite nice actually.

3. Fathima Restaurant / Restoran Fathima
This is another option for Muslims travellers to Vientiane. Situated on the same road as Aashifa Restaurant, this restaurant’s tagline is ‘The Only Real Halal Restaurant in Town’ or something like that. This is due to the fact that this is the only restaurant which does not serve alcoholic beverage on its menu list.

Apart from selling Malaysian food as well [which made me smile again], one of the staffs here speaks fluent Bahasa, as I was told that he has been working for 18 years in Brunei. If you are alone, the best place to start a conversation in our national language is here.

So, that’s it. The 3 Halal restaurants in Vientiane for you to try out. π Happy searching!

Hi, thank you for your post. The food price is really quite pricey.
Are those restaurants located near tourist area?
Yes, they are quite pricey but considering the fact that they cater to tourists, I could relate to that. Yes, the restaurants are walking distance to the tourist area and situated close to the riverside.
