A Visit to Royal Regalia Building, Bandar Seri Begawan

Brunei is a small but wealthy country. Thanks to the oil found in its shores, this sultanate has enjoy a laid-back but ka-ching life. I was in Brunei back in 2014 and while I intend to do posts of my day to day visit in the tiny state, I found out that Brunei is so small and I might as well do a separate post on its each and every attractions that I visited. This time around, I am going to tell you about the Royal Regalia Building in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.

Imagine being one of the richest person in the world and you are thinking, “where should I put all these presents of mine?“. Tada! Have a building of your own to exhibit all those precious presents received all these while. Yes, this building is full with all the royal regalia and presents and gifts received by the current Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

The building itself is huge and nicely decorated with marbles and carpet. Visitors must take off their shoes when visiting and to see all the exhibitions and the collections of the Sultan, you will be amazed to see how amazing the life of  the Sultan is.

The prime exhibition is the chariot used during the Sultan’s 1992 silver jubilee procession where the chariot is accompanied by an army of traditionally dressed headless mannequins representing those present on that day. There is also a second chariot used for the 1968 coronation. There is also a video showing how grandeur the procession was in 1992.
