Backpacking to Europe – Part 16: Muiderslot

Backpacking to Europe – Part 16: Muiderslot

Previously

I went into the convenience store inside the station and bought a cup of coffee for 2 Euro while waiting for the bus to Muiden, a town 4 km away from Weesp. We waited for 10 minutes before I got tired of waiting and told Amira that we should just wait at the bus stop right opposite the train station. We walked under the heavy snowfall and the air was so cold. I imagined myself walking inside a huge freezer except that in real life, there is snowfall.

The bus stop in front of Weesp train station.

Aku masuk ke kedai serbaneka ala 7-Eleven kat stesen keretapi Weesp since bas ke Muiden tak sampai lagi. Sebab sejuk sangat, aku beli secawan kopi panas harga 2 Euro. Bukan nak minum sangat pun, nak buat tekap tangan je sebab nak haba dia. Hehee. Udara dia…masyaAllah sejukkkk. Aku bayangkan kitorang tengah jalan dalam peti ais besar.

Stop at this bus stop to go to Muiderslot.

We waited for Connexxion Bus No. 110 to arrive and whilst waiting, we played with the snow after seeing two kids did the same thing. I have never imagined that I could hold and play with snow like in the movies but as the saying goes, never stop dreaming, it may come true one day.

Crossing this bridge into the town of Muiden. Everything is frozen.

Kami tunggu bas Connexxion No. 110 untuk sampai. Sementara tunggu tu, kami nampak ada budak-budak kecil main salji. Kitorang pun join sekali main baling-baling salji.

Shops at Muiden town.

It was not long before the bus arrives. The journey from the bus stop to Muiden was less than 15 minutes and it cost 3 Euro. Along the way, we were presented with magnificent view of fields covered in white. There were not so many people in the bus and after a few stops, the bus finally reached Muiden, Brandweerkazerne which is the bus stop to go to Muiderslot.

Lovely town it is.

Hi Mom and Mother in Law!

Muiderslot. What is Muiderslot that we decided to visit it? Muiderslot is a medieval castle situated in the town of Muiden. When I planned for this trip, some of my friends were also planning to go to Europe but their visit include Switzerland and Vienna which means, they will have the chance to experience snow and old castles. So, I looked around and found out that there is a castle which I can visit in the Netherlands, thus the visit to Muiderslot.

Just walk here straight ahead and you will find Muiderslot.

Muiderslot. Apa benda Muiderslot tu sampaikan kitorang nak lawat? Last-last, jumpa Muiderslot.

Lovely…lovely view.

From the bus stop, we walked for 1 km (around 12 minutes), passing the quiet Muiden town. It is a very nice small town but since it was winter, most of the shops were closed and the road was almost empty. Apart from other tourists walking towards Muiderslot, there were just a few locals walking around the area.

She loves it.

After a few stops for photo ops, we reached the entrance to Muiderslot, welcomed by a gate. I had bought the entrance ticket during planning stage (13,50 Euro for adults) and had the entrance ticket printed beforehand. We scanned our tickets and… welcome to Muiderslot!

Muiderslot!
