Have you ever been to Nha Trang?
I am not a full-time traveller like some other people out there. However, I make it a point to travel occasionally. Travel will broaden my horizons and give me new knowledge of a particular place that I visited. Nha Trang in Vietnam is a new destination for many people, myself included. Here are some suggestions of things to do for 3 days 2 nights in Nha Trang, Vietnam for those who don’t have much time just like me.
Head to the beach during your 3 days 2 nights in Nha Trang!
Nha Trang city centre is right beside the long, curved beach. If you are visiting Nha Trang, one of the obligatory things to do is to visit the beach. The beach in the city centre can be crowded at times. If you want, you can rent a motorcycle and travel further to look for a more isolated beach. There are some, I was told!
Walk to the beach at night and socialize
Nha Trang is quite happening at night too. There are many eateries and bars lining up the beach and come to live at night. Despite the happening scene, it does not feel too hedonistic like in Patong or Koh Pha Ngan in Thailand. Most travellers come from Russia and China and as at 2017, things are still under control. A word of advice: just don’t stay too late at night because there are petty crimes being reported occasionally.
Cafe hopping and Vietnamese coffee
Vietnam is famous for its distinctive taste of coffee. There are a lot of cafes in Nha Trang selling Vietnamese coffee. One of the things to do if you have 3 days 2 nights in Nha Trang is to cafe hop and try Vietnamese coffee. My personal favourite is black coffee because I think adding milk will alter the taste of the coffee.
Visit Po Nagar Cham Towers
Po Nagar is a Cham temple tower which was built somewhere before 781 C.E. It is a cultural historical relic which is famous among travellers coming to Nha Trang. Po Nagar is situated around 15 minutes motorcycle ride along the main street from the city centre. The entrance fee is 20,000 VND but mind you, the queue into the compound can be overwhelming at times. Nevertheless, the towers themselves are sights to behold.
Rent a scooter and ride around the city!
One of the best ways to enjoy a place is to enjoy it like the locals do. What else is the best way to see a Vietnamese city than to rent a scooter and ride around the city. The rent fee in Nha Trang is very cheap, around 100000 VND (RM 18 / USD 4) per day. If it is raining, don a raincoat like the locals do. The feeling is so good! But if you are coming from a right-hand drive countries (like me), please don’t get confused and ride slowly. You are going to ride on the ‘wrong’ side of the road!
Visit the shopping malls
There are several malls in Nha Trang. One of the malls is Nha Trang Center, situated very close to Sheraton Nha Trang. The mall is very modern and decent, it has many things that are available in any other mall. There is an arcade, a cinema, a bowling alley and a food court. If you don’t like shopping open air, this might be a good alternative.
Eat fresh seafood at night
Nha Trang is very famous for its seafood restaurant. There are a lot of seafood restaurants and when they talk about seafood, it also means crocodiles. Some restaurants offer buffet menu and most restaurants sell fresh seafood. Fresh seafood means the creatures are kept inside aquariums and they will be caught and cooked upon orders.
When in Nha Trang, try to find shops selling souvenirs. There are not a lot but once you found one, there are many souvenirs on sale. You should get that paper-handmade fridge magnet to be added to your fridge magnet collections. It is unique and pretty.
Get on the cable car and visit Vinpearl Land!
Vinpearl Land is the pearl of Nha Trang. The theme park consists of the water park and the extreme/dry park. There are two options to go to Vinpearl, either ride on the fast boat or take the world longest over-the-sea cable car. The ticket price into Vinpearl Land is around VND 800000 (RM 150 / USD 37) but it is totally worth it!
