The start of our journey at Hotel de Art i-City

It was my wife’s birthday and I wanted to surprise my wife by bringing her to a hotel both of us have not been to. We looked around and finally, I noticed that there is a hotel just recently opened. The hotel’s name is not new. I have been to one of the branches before (Read my review here). However, this third branch portrays a different theme and so, we chose Hotel de Art i-City in Shah Alam.

Arrival and checking-in

We arrived at Hotel de Art i-City in the afternoon just in time for checking-in. Parking is free and there are a lot of parking spaces around the hotel. As soon as we entered into the hotel’s lobby, we were in awed! The reception desk looks like fairy tales books, stacked on top of another. It is brilliant. Around the lobby area, I could feel like I was being transported to a fairy tale land and not at Hotel de Art i-City.

It seems that Hotel de Art i-City is still continuing its artsy elements but with a different context. The theme for this branch is Fantasy Wonderland which is evident from the murals inside the lobby area, painted by professional artist.

Near to the reception desk is a mini bar with an industrial concept. The mini bar area is the best place to hang out with a very comfortable sofa together with food and drinks which can be purchased there. I did not order anything but there are a few options which can be chosen from the menu. If frozen food is not your type (they have hot meals which is heated upon order), other restaurants is just a mere minutes driving. Apart from that, Aeon Bukit Raja is just a stone throw away.

Together with my wife, we walked to the reception desk, checked our booking and when they found our booking, we were given the key to our room. In short, check-in was a breeze!

The Room & Amenities

There are many types of rooms at Hotel de Art i-City – you will be spoilt for choices. Among the 35 rooms available are Art Queen, Art Twin, Art Queen Deluxe, Art Twin Deluxe, Art King Deluxe and Art Family. Prices range from RM 108 to RM 298 per night. What makes the rooms more interesting is the fact that all the murals inside each room was painted by different artists who are students from UiTM and UNISEL.

As for Amira and I, we did not stay at any of the rooms above-mentioned. We stayed in a room which is one of the extra rooms only made available at Hotel de Art i-City – Art Soho. All the rooms have different themes and the murals were painted by professional artists.

The room that we chose is situated downstairs so we did not have to take the elevator. We walked towards our room, scan the key card and….we were in Hobbiton!

The Bedroom

Yes, the room was splendid! We were in love as soon as we entered into the room. The room feels really homey. Downstairs is the bathroom with a bathtub and other amenities expected from a hotel. At the living area, there is a TV with satellite channels. Underneath the staircase is the workstation with coffee/tea making facility. There is a mezzanine floor upstairs which is the bedroom with two king mattresses.

That night, as I laid on the mattress, my views were fixed at the Hobbiton mural. I really felt like I was not in Hotel de Art but was at my fantasy wonderland.

Function Room

During my stay, I was glad that I was able to see other services offered by Hotel de Art i-City. One of the services that this hotel provides is the function room for meetings, seminars and courses. The decoration inside the function room really inspires people to give their best while experiencing the artsy feeling inside the room.

The colour combinations throughout the room is refreshing and it is unique to the eyes. I truly believed that anyone who is planning to have any event at the function room will not regret their decision.

The hotel is next to i-City and it is very close to other attractions such as Shah Alam Sport Complex, Wet World Shah Alam and National Botanical Garden. If anyone has any events or errands to do in Shah Alam, Hotel de Art i-City is one of the best places to stay at.

Amira and I stayed for a night but we felt like we had stayed there long enough. We felt so restful after our stay. We checked-out and came back to the real world after spending a night at the fantasy wonderland.

Additional feedbacks

Generally, I really love this hotel and so does my wife. However, there are only three major things that I would like to suggest to the hotel management. Firstly, since Art Soho is huge enough, I think it is better if an iron and ironing board is provided inside the room and not at the corridor.

Secondly, it would be so convenient if there is a minibar inside every Art Soho room.

Thirdly, it is better if the bathroom doormat uses a towel-style doormat just like in other hotels. It would be easier to maintain.

Other than that, I think Hotel de Art i-City is an excellent hotel to stay at!

Hotel de Art i-City is the third branch of the famous artsy hotel chain in Shah Alam i.e. Hotel de Art. It is situated at 19 Jalan Keluli 7/110, Section 7, Shah Alam, 40000 Shah Alam, Selangor.
