The best itinerary for a 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin trip
Hua Hin is a seaside city near Bangkok, Thailand. It is famous as a weekend getaway destination for Bangkokians to leave the bustling life in Bangkok behind. Hua Hin is much like Port Dickson in Malaysia. However, while Port Dickson’s main attraction is the beach, there are many other places of attraction in and around Hua Hin. We managed to go for a trip to Hua Hin recently. 4 nights in Hua Hin to be exact. In this post, we will share the unforgettable 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin’s itinerary for you to follow.
Take the train to Hua Hin
Hua Hin train station is one of the main attractions in the city. It is obligatory for every one who come to Hua Hin to visit the train station. It is one of the few stations in Thailand which encompass traditional designs for its station. Apart from that, there is a Royal Pavillion which is the dedicated stop for the royal families during their retreat to Hua Hin.
The best way to enjoy Hua Hin and its beautiful station is by taking the train to Hua Hin. Start your 5 days 4 nights trip to Hua Hin by taking the train either from Bangkok or from Kuala Lumpur. Believe it or not, we took the train from Kuala Lumpur to Hua Hin and it took us 24 hours to reach the city! It is an unforgettable journey for us and we shared our experience on the train journey here.
Stay at Resort de Paskani, Hua Hin during your 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin trip!
When we first tell our friends that we are going to stay for 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin, there are some who are skeptical of us. “5 days in Hua Hin? What are you going to do there? The city is boring!“. Well, there is nothing bored when we were staying at Resort de Paskani. The resort has two pools, our room is facing one of the pools and the resort itself is so accommodating. We have never been to Santorini but staying at Resort de Paskani, we got a feel of how Santorini feels like.
So, if you are visiting Hua Hin, we strongly recommend that you stay at Resort de Paskani! You will have the best rest of your life here, trust us!
Visit Plearnwan Market (UPDATE 2020: CLOSED FOR GOOD)
As a seaside city, Hua Hin has its own vibes as such city. However, there is no better place to feel the groove of Hua Hin in the 1960s than to visit Plearnwan Market. Although it is a tourist attraction, the people behind the market has built it to let the visitors feel how life was in Hua Hin during the 1960s.
At Plearnwan Market, you will find retro-themed markets selling souvenirs, food and drinks. If you are on Instagram, this is the best place to do your OOTD posts!
UPDATE (2020): According to news report, the market is now closed for good from 31st January 2020.
In Hua Hin, there is a park where it is recommended for you to visit during your 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin. Rajabahakti Park is a park like no others. It is a park to commemorate and honour the former kings of Thailand starting from the Sukhothai period to the current house of Chakri. At Rajabhakti Park, there is an exhibition area showing all the historical displays of the Thai’s royal family.
The main stars of Rajabhakti Park is the statues of some of the former kings of Thailand. The statues are very gigantic. Upon closer look, you can see that enormous details have been put in constructing them.
Memory House Cafe
Memory House Cafe is a cafeteria in Hua Hin but it is also an attraction on its own. Within the cafe’s compound, there are many structures built to allow visitors to take their photos at. It is free to take photos within the cafe’s compound. Nevertheless, with the hot scorching sun shining in Hua Hin, you can also try some of their frappes while enjoying the view. The best part is, they play Korean musics through loudspeakers. For a moment, you will think that you are in Korea!
Hua Hin Night Market
Night markets are not only famous in Thailand but it is also part of Asia’s culture. However, what differentiate Thailand’s night markets from the others is the things that they offer. In Hua Hin, there are several night markets available, so you can choose which one based on what day that you come. As for us, during our 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin, we visited the Hua Hin Night Market.
The market is incredible because most of the prices are very reasonable. In fact, you can find some exotic insects to try as they are giving out free samples! You can also get your souvenirs and try local delicacies here.
Shop at Premium Outlet Cha-am during your 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin
For the shopaholics out there, good news! There are numerous malls in Hua Hin and a further drive to Cha-am will give you an extra fix to your shopping addiction. We managed to visit Premium Outlet Cha-am during our visit and I even managed to get a Polo t-shirt for a bargain. There are many branded outlets here and the price is very reasonable, being a factory outlet store.
1,000 Sook or 1,000 happiness is a themed-park farm situated in Cha-am which is situated a mere 2-minute drive from the Premium Outlet. At 1,000 sook, there are many animals such as sheep, ponies and rabbits. If you are visiting Hua Hin with your children, include 1,000 Souk in your itinerary. They will surely love the place, especially since they can feed the animals at the farm.
Shop for local products during your 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin
We love Thai food. The spiciness and the taste of spices in Thai’s cooking always make us drooling for more. Sometimes, we feel like we want to try making Thai’s food on our own. That is why every time we visit Thailand, we will visit local stores to get the instant mix. It does not matter whether you are going to Tesco Lotus or Big C. You can find everything that you want in those stores.
In addition, visiting the local stores buying local products will give you a taste of being locals. So, go ahead and shop for local products at the local stores in Hua Hin!
The Venezia is another place of attraction in Hua Hin but this time, the theme is Venice. You will feel like you are in Italy with Italian food being served and Italian music being blasted all around. You can even find a canal inside The Venezia. Although we have visited The Venezia, we personally would say that this place needs a lot of maintenance to ensure that everything is working properly.
When we were there, there were not so many visitors around and we could see that they are struggling to maintain the place. Yet, the maintenance of the place can be further improved to attract more visitors to come.
Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park
Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park is not in Hua Hin proper. Instead, it is situated at Phetchaburi district, around an hour drive or 80 km from Hua Hin. Still, if you have 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin, you can take some time off to drive up north to this place.
We actually visited this place by chance. The night before our visit, we searched where else can we go during our stay. We found this historical park and another park and asked our followers on Instagram to vote. Most voted for Phra Nakhon Khiri so, we decided to just go and explore.
It was the best decision ever since the place is so unique. It is a former palace situated on top of a hill and the view from the top is astounding. Another interesting fact about the place is that you will go up on a uni-direction small funicular train. The price is also very cheap – another reason why you must include this place in your 5 days 4 nights Hua Hin visit.
Yes, Maeklong Market is near Bangkok. In fact, most people will try to visit this interesting market during their stay in Bangkok. So, how can Maeklong Market be in this list? Because, it is possible to visit this unique market during your 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin visit!
This market needs no introduction as many people know and familiar why this market is so famous. But it is more interesting and surreal to see the action before your own eyes. If you are staying in Hua Hin and renting a car (like us!), Maeklong Market is just 120 km away (close to 2 hours driving). As you know, highways in Thailand has no toll and it is free. The highways are also very well-maintained and they have one of the best rest areas in Asia!
So, you can consider your visit to the market as a road trip within a trip!
Finally, massage after 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin!
To end your visit to Hua Hin, go for a Thai traditional massage. There are a lot of massage centres in Hua Hin, the most professional (and priciest) is Let’s Relax. However, there are a lot of other simple massage centres in Hua Hin. Since Hua Hin is not a place where people come to party and have wild fun (like Phuket), I can assure you that most of the massage centres are ‘clean’ and have a ‘normal ending’!
So, no, Hua Hin is not boring and yes, we spent 5 days 4 nights in Hua Hin and we had a blast!
