If you are visiting Satun, Thailand and you are looking for a place to stay, look no other than Bara Bara Budget Satun

Earlier this year, before the Movement Control Order was implemented with a nationwide lockdown, we managed to squeeze our time and visited Satun. Satun is a small town on the southern part of Thailand, bordering Wang Kelian in the state of Perlis. During our previous visits, we stayed at one small motel by the beach. However, for this year’s visit, we tried to look for a new place to stay at. We searched online and found a relatively new hotel. We finally decided to stay at this new hotel named Bara Bara Budget Satun.

Roadtripping to Satun and staying at Bara Bara Budget Satun
Roadtripping to Satun for food!

Bara Bara Budget Satun is situated near the Pak Bara Pier. Pak Bara Pier is the main pier for those visiting Koh Lipe island, the other being in Langkawi Island. Normally, most visitors just passed by Satun to head to Koh Lipe while some will have a short stayover before proceeding their journey to Koh Lipe.

Since we were only having a short roadtrip for food, we decided to stay overnight at Bara Bara Budget Satun. It was the best decision that we have ever made. The hotel is very near to the pier. Apart from that, Bara Bara Budget Satun is also situated near seaside restaurants, a mosque and also a 7-Eleven outlet. As such, it is very convenient for the guests if they stay at this beautiful hotel.

The hotel also provides car park although spaces are very limited.

The rooms at Bara Bara Budget Satun and prices

There are three room types at Bara Bara Budget Satun – A deluxe queen room, a twin room as well as suites. We stayed at the twin room and I could say that the room really exceeded my expectations. Being a relatively new hotel, the rooms and the hotel’s surrounding are very well-maintained. Although the room is a bit small, the wall’s colour and the decorations in the room exceeded what is expected of a ‘budget’ hotel.

The twin room

The room is decorated with fishing nets and some stones in the nets – to show that the town it is in is a fishermen’s town. They also did well in having a beautiful bedside lamp that we almost forgot that Bara Bara Budget Satun has the word ‘budget’ in its name.

Many amenities provided at Bara Bara Budget Satun
Don’t expect this place to be like your usual budget hotel. It goes beyond that

The room also has all the amenities normally found in other hotel rooms with a higher price tag:

  • Minibar
  • Hot shower
  • Mineral water
  • Towels
  • Pool towels
  • TV
  • Open wardrobe
  • Safebox

If you fancy some coffee or tea with biscuits, they serve those by the poolside where you can just walk out of the room and prepare it there.

You can prepare some hot coffee or tea at the counter at the end of the pool

And believe it or not, when we booked the room at this hotel, it costs us less than RM 100/night! It is a very good bargain!

The Pool!

For less than RM 100 per night, the best part of staying at this hotel is that it has a pool! When we were searching for a place to stay in Satun, we wanted to stay at a place with a pool. We found one and almost book that place until we stumbled upon Bara Bara Budget Satun.

The pool is not too big but enough to have a good swim in. Besides that, it is situated in front of the room and easy for guests to access. When we were staying there, we did not fell like we were in Thailand. Instead, it felt like we were on some kind of Mediterranean excursion. Moreover, the speakers installed at the hotel’s corridor play Mediterranean music all day long, so the vibe is totally chill.

So guys, if you are visiting Satun for a short roadtrip once the border re-opens, consider staying at Bara Bara Budget Satun. They have friendly staffs, some of those can speak Malay while mostly can speak English. They are really helpful and they will make your stay here memorable, even if it is just a short stay.

As for us, we really hope the place will be well-maintained so that it will be sparkling clean, like the one we experienced during our pre-MCO visit.

  1. I’m surprised they call it a “budget hotel” because with the pool like that, looks like a boutique hotel! Less than RM 100/night is a steal!

    • They should’ve called themselves Bara Bara Boutique instead of budget. I was surprised when I arrived there because it is definitely beyond my expectation of a ‘budget’ hotel. Yes, they just opened and we got the promotional price!
